Here you will find entries related to famous places and events in "American" history, society and culture. Note the there is no "place" named "America" per se, so the entries here may take a more expansive conception of the field of "American" studies. Places of import could be within the US and its territories; they may relate to the continents of North and/or South America; or they could reflect key sites of US engagement with the world or the world's engagement with the US. No nation exists in isolation or is fully closed to influence from elswhere, so entries here should reflect this expansive and transnational conception of history.
