Positive Characterizations
This is a sub-page of Women as Characters in Video Games
Fallout 3 allows female characters, has women in command, in front-line combat, and downplays romantic interests. Unlike earlier Fallout titles, female PCs don’t really effect game-play or plot, though even in the earlier titles that was negligable
Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, like earlier Bioware titles (Knights of the Old Republic) allow female characters and that choice doesn’t effect plot. Romantic sub-plots are important to the story (though they can be avoided), and in some cases aren’t effected by gender. One sex scene is nearly unavoidable in the first game, and happens regardless of gender.
