OKC bombing

Page history last edited by miranda.neff@okstate.edu 13 years, 6 months ago

Caption:  This photograph was taken April 19, 1995 when a bomb planted in a Ryder truck exploded outside the Alfred P. Murrah building located in Oklahoma City, OK killing 168 people.

Annotation: The man sitting in the grass is a deduced to be a firefighter because of his utilitarian fireproof pants and iconic red suspenders.  The background is out of focus leading the eye to circulate on the man as the sole subject matter in the picture.  The firefighter has been captured in this photograph sitting in the grass with his legs sprawled out.  He is vulnerable and is hunched over holding his head in his hands. This picture symbolizes the weakness felt, by even the strongest heroes, in our nation during times of fear and tragedy.
